Oberlin Summer Theater Festival: Butterflies are Free

  • Hall Auditorium 67 North Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074 United States (map)

Oberlin Summer Theater Festival kicks off its 11th season with Butterflies are Free by Leonard Gershe, and directed by Joseph Rizzolo.

Don Baker has just moved into his new downtown apartment in NYC. There, he meets his next-door neighbor, Jill Tanner, a free-spirited flower child, and the two fall in love. However, conflicts emerge when Don’s controlling mother appears, trying to end the relationship to protect Don because he is blind. “Butterflies Are Free” was a Broadway hit in 1969, and this dramatic comedy continues to charm and move audiences.

Performances run in rotating repertoire though July 28.

The Oberlin Summer Theater Festival is made possible by generous support from Oberlin College, city of Oberlin/Oberlin Business Partnership, Nord Family Foundation, Nordson Corporation Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, and audience members.
