Titan Mentoring

Over the last 20 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lorain County has pioneered mentoring efforts in Lorain County serving youth between 6-18 in our school and community-based programs. We have created a new opportunity to mentor scholars in Lorain High School with our Titan Mentoring Program. BBBSLC Workplace Mentoring Program will provide Lorain City high school students (9th Graders) with the critical skills needed to achieve their full career potential through a mentoring relationship with a caring adult role model.

By partnering with BBBSLC, companies are making an investment in the development of the next generation of leaders. Students are matched in one to one mentoring relationships with company employees who, through structured program activities, help map out the students’ futures. Each program day is designed and facilitated by a BBBSLC program manager. Program managers each hold a Bachelor’s Degree and are on-site to support mentoring matches.

A group of mentoring matches meets twice a month; once at the company and the other in a classroom setting with a Big Brothers Big Sisters Coordinator and School Staff. Our curriculum will have Scholars exploring various topics including skills such as perseverance, critical thinking, self-advocacy and goal setting. Other areas include college preparation, career goals, and planning for the future. Students will work with additional professionals aligned with the curriculum to address soft skills to ensure a strong professional foundation is established. The program will work with the identified students over their entire high school tenure.
